What a strike! Sturridge desperately unlucky to see his long-range effort bounce back off the crossbar after controlling Firmino’s clever backheel.

English refs are a joke. VAR gives offside goal. So clearly shown on screen was an offside when the free kick came in to Barkley. Joke

Jurgen Klopp details his plan on how Liverpool can stop Chelsea's Eden Hazard
Jurgen Klopp has set out a plan to help Liverpool stop Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard after claiming no player is impossible to defend.
Hazard came off the bench to score a remarkable late winner and earn the Londoners a 2-1 win at Anfield in their Carabao Cup third round tie on Wednesday. It was his sixth goal in 15 games against Liverpool , with the Belgian international having also provided two assists in that time. While appreciating the quality of Hazard's strike, Klopp believes the Reds missed several opportunities to stop the Chelsea man before his unerring finish. And with Hazard certain to start when the teams meet again in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, Klopp knows his danger can be quelled if defended properly. “Stopping passes to Hazard, good idea, being close, also a good idea, but he likes it when somebody's close to be honest,” said the Reds boss. “We all know that we could have defended that goal that he scored. That's clear: we had three challenges. Yes, he did well. If we had one 100% challenge in four or five, Eden Hazard can't do what he did. But that's how it is and that's not new. “It's always clear we need one for the challenge, one for the protection, maybe two for the protection. Three times. “And even then it's still not possible to score a goal but he did because of a perfect finish. I can easily respect that but no player is not defendable. That's all how it is, but they are difficult to defend. “If you give Sadio Mane the ball in the wrong space then you cannot get him anymore as an opponent. It's not possible. “We have those players as well so it's good but we have to make sure we close the right spaces and if we have a challenge we should try to win it a bit more than we did in that situation.” Asked if Wednesday taught him anything new about Hazard, Klopp added: “A few years ago we played Chelsea with Diego Costa and Eden Hazard. "A different system with two strikers, and that night it felt like ‘wow!’ We could defend all of them but not him. “I know exactly how good he is. Eden Hazard is a special player, and he enjoys these one-versus-one situations. I didn’t need that game to know about Eden. It was already clear before!” |
