1 year later - Update on Curuai discus biotope tank (Picture intensive)
It's been a year since I first posted up my Curuai thread describing how my dream to finally own top quality discus had been fulfilled. One year down the road, I can firmly say that I have no regrets chasing that dream - making contact with Hudson, making it happen, burning a huge hole in my already very empty pocket, carefully picking tankmates and changing tankmates over the months, almost losing the entire batch to bacterial infection etc. To me, it was all worth it.
So here's my 1 year update of my 4x2x2 Curuai biotope tank. Bro Wind.feng was very kind to drop by my place and help me take some good pictures of the tank and fish. The difference between purchasing top quality discus and...well... not top quality discus is obvious. These days, the cost difference between buying Hudson's fishes and purchasing from an unknown source isn't really very big anymore, and sometimes the unknown sources may even cost more! As a wild discus hobbyist with first hand experience, I strongly recommend all other discus hobbyists to invest in quality for your home tanks. The difference in quality is stark and the damage to your pocket is similar. Discus are a long term commitment, and I don't recommend the "I buy the not so good one first to try la, then later upgrade" mentality with them. Ok enough rambling...here are the pictures! *Please note that as at the taking of the pictures, the discus had not been fed any colour enhancers for 4-5 months, so their red potential isn't displayed fully as it could have been had I continued feeding colour enhancing food. You can imagine how red they would be if so! |
