I routinely deworm my discus every 6 months. It is recommended by Hudson to do so every 6-12 months.
The reason for this is that the deworming process does not totally eradicate the parasites, especially those that are still in cysts at the time of deworming. This is especially so with praziquental (commonly used medication is EIHO Parzi-Gold), which weakens and stuns the tapeworms, but not necessarily kills them. Weakened tapeworms may be passed out by the fish (you should vacuum them out), or they may stay within the guts and slowly recover after 6-12 months. |

[QUOTE=illumnae;9286427]No, I dose the entire tank. The deworming meds don't harm filter bacteria
So I need to off my filter system when I deworm? |

Maybe try half dose first, see fish reaction first.
