Anti-Ammonia Rock
Hi All.. Need some advice regarding Anti-Ammonia Rock.
I just bought a packet of Dymax Anti-Ammonia Rock today but have not place it inside my canister. Would like to enquire does Anti-Ammonia Rock needs to be change every monthly just like active carbon? |

Some of these can be re-used. I'm not sure but it could be zeolite. It absorbs ammonia over time but can reach maximum capacity.
Do not add salt if you are using such anti-ammonia stones/rock as they will release the ammonia back into your water and potentially kill off your livestocks... Remove the used rock and dump it into a pail with salt and let it release the ammonia for a few days then it should be good enough to be re-used. But I discourage the use of this unless it is an emergency case as the stone might cause your beneficial bacteria to starve from ammonia... |
