Default Koi Kichi

Hi there,

just out of curiousity, anyone goldfish lover here also keep koi. Koi belongs to the carp family which was said to be the ancestor of all goldfish today.

saw a commercial buy/sell thread whereby a owner wishes to give out 13 pieces of koi.

Just felt like taking up this hobby.

Any expert there care to share about koi care ???

Cheers,
Dragon Fish

You will need much more space for koi than aro. Cannot keep koi in tanks but in ponds only. If you live in appartment, better not keep.

Koi should have at least 1 tonne of water per fish, ideally 10 tonnes per fish, though.

Koi, depending on bloodline, grow from 60cm to 100+cm, which takes a few years to grow to full potential.

Koi are suitable for large ponds only.

Cheers!

MY kois are big though not huge...some are think are about the size of the keybord and larger...

My smallest is the shusui... only about 15cm and it cost quite a bit...

would u uppz my reputation?!

My pond is about not sure... those average ponds where u see in peoples garden.... recently leak so contactor came and put another layer of those paper glass(or something like that...heard it very costly!!!) but no extra charges cause before that already leak once and they did not do a proper job and leak again!!!...

My pond is very deep...about the dept of a bamboo stick where u hang your clothes(the long one)... a small pathetic waterfall...
