Default pH dilemma

Small dilemma. I got a Snail pH meter that shows my tank water as 7.2, but a pinpoint meter that shows it as 6.6.

My previous Dymax pH pen also tag team wif Snail and shows me ph on the alkaline side, around 7.2-7.5. Api 5 in 1 test strip suggests that my pH is on the acidic side.

I have ketapang leaves and ocean free peat granules in my sump that can contribute to acidity, and Azoo 4-in-4 media (calcium and magnesium) that can contribute to alkalinity.

So is my water acidic or alkali??? confused:

hi bro i think as long your fishes are doing well should be ok , acid + alkali will neutralization so perhaps slightly alkali sounds right maybe u can use those Api PH liquid test thingy been using quite awhile , seems quite accurate. Cheers

Yes, fishes are doing very well in the tank, thank you.

I think its just my problem that im confused why 2 pH meter give so different readings. But both of them are calibrated and gives me 7.0 when i test with ph 7 solution this evening.

Very confused, any bros here have similar experiences?

I used to be in a long period of delusional n dilemma state like u . Invest in ph pens, pinpoint meters, every instruments give me big differences of reading until one day I say fk it n just use api liquid tester so far the most consistent in reading n yes also cheapest

Don't let ph reading fk ur mind to deep, most importantly when stable, keep ur wc regime consistent, don't use any ph up or down chemicals and don't do any major changes within tank frequently (like today add 5 kg pine wood Tomolo take out pine wood and put 5 kg corals) especially when all fishes are eating well , rapid changes are dangerous.

honest, guys I was like that a very long time ago

Over the ph thing.

Fortunately, there was much help from a sifu in af.

As long as the fishes are doing well, feeding etc.

With very regular wc & clearing & washing of filter materials,

No fret anymore

Oops! Don't forget to invest in a good water conditioner too.

Electricity in your power point, water will make the ph meter in accurate.
Test the water outside the tank by scooping a cup of water frm the main tank.
Test with ph pen or ph test kit.

Thanks bro for the lengthy advice. because recently I've decided to add ketapang to lower my ph and soften water, so i wanna monitor it in case ph gets too low, but so far quite stable at 6.6 (according to pinpoint meter).

Crossed my mind to use api liquid tester also, is it very easy to see the colour?
Using the phosphate liquid tester, and sometimes the colour a bit hard to see.

Yes, BOTH give me 7.0 when test wif ph7 liquid, but put back into tank one give me 6.6(pinpoint) and one give me 7.2(Snail)

haha now also got a lot of sifu teaching. Will do, using seachem prime now. Thinking of switching to seachem Safe after my bottle of prime finish. Any advice? Is safe btr than prime? or just more economical?
