my personal pt of view:

b it local or commercial, they hav their own gd n bad pts.

as a local DIY, wat is the 1st on the mind? 2 cater 2 one or own needs. juz like u, when u DIY ur skimmer, u know wat u looking 4.

4 commercial, they come out wif a certain concept, draft n design, mass produce it. y AquaC insists on spray injection instead of needle wheel? tat's their concept.

as local DIYers r on the rise, they, i believe, hav 1 thing in mind-2 cater 2 wat reefers r looking 4, b it cheap products, quality products, better concepts, fine finishing. u 1 a combination of all, b prepared 2 pay more.

4 me, i prefer local products simply b cos they cater 2 my needs. they provide good after sales service n ready support. local products not good? they can beat other commercial units easliy.

1 incident i came across. there was tis reefer condemning locals DIY becketts. he reasoned tat such products r not even worth the money. the ironical thing is when a LFS he knows well sells such products, he complimented them like as if they r worth more than diamonds.

another incident, a reefer hates local DIY, complaining abt every single minor detail. how could he justify wat he said when he was trying 2 b a DIYer himself.

So far they are working fine for my own use...was thinking of checking it out with DIY product users....bcos someone seems very unhappy with local DIY lei. Was very disheartened when i saw this 'this kind of standard can only be factory manufactured and not diyed' and 'prefers to buy equipments then to ask local diyers to do the job. This is what we pay for: quality'

Cheers

To me... as long as the product is good and of course cheap! I don't really mind whether its local DIY or commercial... However, the first obstacle for the local DIY is to prove that their product is good and durable.. and that takes time.... If they can sustain a few years and prove themselves, I'm sure they will win over many fans!

we cant really strike a balance so a reefer will hav 2 decide which product suits him more, local or commercial.

local becketts might not beat MRC becketts in terms of quality n finishing, but some said MRC's concept r not gd enough.

PC chiller is another. thou it's local made, it can anytime beat other commercial unit. 4 chiller, reefers r always concerned how fast it can cool down their tk. but sad 2 say, many did not realise some chillers do not sense the "true" temp. so i would advise b 4 buying 1, study the system layout n understand the working principle.

having said, tat's my pt of view oni.
