just part of business cost.. the bigger the company, the bigger the project, the higher the corruption.. eg.. arms.

for undertable corruption... quite often projects are undertaken SOLEY to benefit some parties, whether the project is eventually successfully implement or of any use is not of concern to them.
this is the kind of corruption that is counter productive and must be done away with else the country will surely fall

A single person who does it, is consider corruption...he is against the system set up by many.

If the whole group do it...then it is not corruption...cuz its is then considered a system. example: we can think of many military controlled country and of cuz our white's pay system

In Russia they have mafia...do anything must pay govt n mafia, one is licenced and one is not...I joked with my Russian's engineers, in singapore...they r the same...they r both licenced.

When the ministers are paid such high salary, that they becomes a millionaire within half a year, corruption is minimalised but not eleminated.

In such case (uniquely Singapore), where the money is already put into their salary, the package makes it legal.

And seems like, they dun hv to be accountable.

I've been asking myself (for e last hour) what achievements the gov has to put me on the more positive side of the scale but... sadly, the punishing last 5yrs just KILLED any achievements over e last few decades.

Current gov just KILLED good works done by previous administrations.

The best PAP achievements had happened from the 60s to the 80s.

After that, the achievements became profit centres.

From housing to public transport to utilities to public roads. All basic necessities.

Even education is going down the route.
University education is very very expensive.
The saving grace is most schools up till secondary level are still very affordable.

mostly for corruption to perpetuate, it must necessary be systemic
the ecology will make it difficult to change one way or another.

ie. for a system infested with corruption its difficult to try to change and vice versa.

often heard related of a neighbouring country, if one offers too little, they will say, abang, I have many brothers to take care of ....

imo, singapore has an environment:
1. that's generally safe
2. where most things work
3. with a good sea and air port
4. conducive for business, R&D, academia, and some service and manufacturing sectors
5. with fairly good communication infrastructure

it has a population:
1. of both citizens and residents which are generally motivated and law-abiding
2. that generally believes in meritocracy
3. that knows they must compromise on a few things like tighter public spaces and transport; some anti-social behaviour; some social safety to allow for growth fueled by foreigners

singapore has special problems:
1. it's small physical size and hence land scarcity, low population, and limited natural resources.
2. low birth rate which leads to insufficient replacement of the population
3. a controlled media and high censorship - which stifles constructive debate and creative approach to solving problems.

and not-so-special problems:
1. competition : from near or far; big or small
2. the ever-changing world: to stand still is to lose out
3. the challenging younger generations that are well-educated; expect
instant answers and gratification; not battle-tested

can all this be the work of the PAP?
