Default Introduction

Dear all

To make Arofanatics more interesting, we are working on organizing some events so that we can all get to meet more often and get to know each other better (the real person, not virtual) and share experiences and knowledge.

Events such as farm trips (local and overseas), competitions, seminars and chill-out sessions are currently being worked on.

Of course, we are going to need some funds to do all these and thus, some of the ways we are hoping to generate funds will be through;

• Group Buys – savings to hobbyists is possible due to economy of scale. In addition, suppliers are also willing to contribute a percentage of sales to our “Events Fund”.
• Auctions – the amount above the agreed cost price with the supplier will be channeled to the “Events Fund”
• Contributions from suppliers – this may be $, products and/or services.
• Sales of AF memorabilia

These events will be for everybody – both hobbyists and commercial parties. Therefore, if you have any thoughts and suggestions, please post for discussion.

Group Buys

Dear all

Before we embark on our Group Buys, we would like to make some things clear so that there is no misunderstanding in the future. We strive to get good deals for AF members while at the same time get some funds for AF events. We hope that all of you will participate, so that we are able to get the minimum quantity required (and hopefully more) to enjoy a good rate. However, we would like to stress that it may not necessarily be the cheapest.

I was told that farm/establishment may also organise GBs selling products at cost (wholesale price) to attract customers. Businessman can sell other supplier's products at cost or even at a loss as they have the benefit of selling their own products at a profit.

However, Arofanatics can't as we do not have our own products and we are a non-profit set-up. In addition, we are not out to kill the market, we just want to promote the hobby & make more friends.

Therefore, please understand and we look forward to your support.

Default Interview with Breeders

We received some feedback regarding the credibility/authencity of the interview with an Aro breeder conducted recently.

We understand your concern and would also have liked to identify the interviewee. However, we also need to respect the wishes of the interviewee, if he/she does not wish to be identified.

Rest assure that we would have done the initial validation. In this instance, the interviewee is a CITES breeder.

As in all articles, whether here in the forum or other media, the readers' judgement will have to prevail. Should there be areas where individuals feel uncertain about, it can be posted in the Arowana forum for further discussions. Am sure there are "experts" in forums that will be able to offer some assistance as well.

We are also planning more chats with breeders and/or professionals in this trade and is working on having interested hobbyist join in the session and be part of the interview team - to be the journalist, photo journalist, etc.. Of course, this is subject to the interviewee agreeing to this format of interview.

We are working hard at this and will update all of you as soon as we can...

I have to stress to you guys that any funds collected do not go into AF maintenance. This is still a privately owned site. We do not accept donations in the past and will not do so in the foreseeable future.

Whatever that is generated will go back into the community via events organised by D24 and any member here who wants to be involved in the organising of such events.
