Default Death of altum angel

Hi Bro/sis;

Got 5 altum 2 week ago..This is my 1st attempt

All feeding(BW) well, but then 1 die last wk, another yesterday...

What is the reason, PH is ard 6, water cond is ok with low load(3 ft tank with the altum only on OHF)

Notice that the tail clamp together and some fungus on 1 of them..

What is the likely cause ? What medication can i apply for the fungus?

I am looking to buy another batch, what is the precaution I need to take.

Thnx

Since your tank has few altums at the moment, probably you'll like to try melafix. Follow the instruction on the bottle.

Lower pH by using peat to around 5, temp up to 28C, melafix. These works for me. Oh ya, I also 'sunshine' them.

melafix is better used as a recovery aid and not the remedy, especially when fungus/rot has really set in. antibiotics would be a better measure.

yellow powder or furan-type medication would do, at least it worked for me.

Agreed with bro altum-crazy about "furan-type". However as Altum is wild caught and unstable in aroyo's tank, "furan-type" is not recommended. As mentioned by armageddon Altum doesn't react well with chemical. Maybe any chemical as a matter of fact. So dosage is always reduce. As "furan-type" comes in sachets and dosage is for 4ft tank it is difficult to dose as aroyo's tank is 3ft.

Aroyo,

Be careful when you try to lower the pH make sure that have pH meter (or any other pH tester) on hand and calibrated. This is to prevent pH to you remaining Altum.
