The pond was built by CAG Construction. The design and plumbing configuration is my own.
They had swimming pool experience, but not so much koi pond. Their plumber is excellent tho, and did an excellent job following my plans. http://www.cagbuild.com/ |

New pond has an issue with the pumps draining the clean water pit too fast.
This locks the RDF into a permanent cleaning cycle which eventually drains off quite a bit of water from the pond into the waste line which opens during the cleaning cycle. The pumps also go into a undesirable dry running state, which can cause permanent damage. The solution is being built now. It involves installing a Neptune Apex controller, to which several sensors will be attached. - A float sensor that triggers at the same level of water that would trigger a RDF cleaning cycle. This sensor will be used to log the activation of the RDF. If the sensor activates longer than 30s (normal cleaning cycle runs 15s or so), the pumps draining the pit will be set to run at 1000 rpm down from 1300 rpm to allow the water level to rise, and stop the cleaning cycle. This will allow the RDF water piston to reset so the drum can rotate for the next cleaning cycle. After 5 minutes, the pumps will be set back to 1300 rpm which will initiate a new cleaning cycle. - A float sensor deep in the pit to detect a potential dry running condition. The deeper pump will be set to 1000 rpm, and the other pump will be turned off. If the condition persists, both pumps will be shut off and an alarm sent via email/SMS. My stocking is low enough and aeration good enough that the fish should last quite a while without the pumps moving water. A further option is to auto dose AST/Chloram X to detox ammonia. |

Just a heads up for those looking to do a new pond with state of the art kit.
Blue Eco, the manufacturer of my RDF, will be at the 9th Asian Koi Show on June 11/12. They will be showcasing their equipment, which I think will be the RDF, pumps and their bead filter. |

Lo. The problem has been somewhat resolved by tweaking the duration of the cleaning cycle so the waterjets have more time to clean the screen.
Ironically this means making the drum turn slower, so the jets spend more time on the screen. My electronic failsafe system is still being built. I have the sensors in, but still waiting on a 230V normally open 3/4" solenoid valve. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPVY9LrALgY Sorry for the long wait Finally got around to getting a video done. The aeration is making visibility a bit poor. Keeping fish happy/healthy more important for now. I have some plans to move airflow to a pair of bar diffusers under the waterfall, and install some baffles under the deck to make the exposed area calmer. |

Nice pond.
You need the deck to service the waterfall? Removing the deck will have a bigger viewing area which is my preference and make the pond look bigger. |

The deck is also to provide shade for the fish as I don't have the space to set up much of a sail shade.
