Tanning
Arcadia have produced specialised products for enriching the colouration of Arowanas
Firstly a T8 fluorescent lamp which mimics strong sunlight, emitting both UVA and UVB for natural colour development of the fish. This is a natural way to develop colour without harming the fish With the Red Arowana Lamp Red Arowana develop a natural deeper red colour and with the Golden Crown Arowana Lamp Golden Crown Arowana will develop a natural deep golden colour on the top of their heads and along their back Reflectors are available to match the lamps Red Arowana Light Code Watt Length Diameter UV-A UV-B Reflector* FAW30 30W 36″/900mm T8-26mm 27% 5% ALRS24 FAW36 36W 48″/1200mm T8-26mm 27% 5% ALRS39 Golden Crown Arowana Light Code Watt Length Diameter UV-A UV-B Reflector* FAWG30 30W 36″/900mm T8-26mm 30% 6% ALRS24 FAWG36 36W 48″/1200mm T8-26mm 30% 6% ALRS39 Alternatively we can offer a complete lighting unit including lamp, tube with integral reflector and ballast with alternative length mains leads - the Arowana T8 light fitting set. It is a unique, submersible, T8 fluorescent fitting. The UV transmissive lens material allows UV radiation from an Arcadia Arowana lamp to pass through the clear portion of the tube. When used with the Arowana lamp this replicates the natural exposure of the fish to the UVA and UVB in daylight. It also allows fish to develop a richer colour than they would under normal artificial lighting. • UV Transmissive lamp tube • High performance co-extruded reflector built in to tube • Remote ballast box • Designed specifically for the new Arcadia Arowana Lamp • Includes Arowana Lamp Red Arowana Lamp Set Lead Length Code Watt Length Diameter Lamp Mains Reflector* AWS30 30W 36″/900mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 1.5m ALRS24 AWL30 30W 36″/900mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 8m ALRS39 AWS36 36W 48″/1200mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 1.5m ALRS39 AWL36 36W 48″/1200mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 8m ALRS39 Golden Crown Arowana Lamp Set Lead Length Code Watt Length Diameter Lamp Mains Reflector* AWGS30 30W 36″/900mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 1.5m ALRS24 AWGL30 30W 36″/900mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 8m ALRS39 AWGS36 36W 48″/1200mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 1.5m ALRS39 AWGL36 36W 48″/1200mm T8-26mm 66/127cm 8m ALRS39 Hopefully this new product will help many Arowana enthusiasts to improve the health and appearance of these magnificent fish Last edited by Arcadia; 04-12-2013 at 11:58 PM. |

The average useful life of these lamps is 6000 to 8000 hours so at 8 hours a day you should be ok changing the lamps every couple of years Paul |

The Golden Crown lamp will give you the white light you are looking for. The leads lengths from the control gear to the lampholder are 66 and 127 cms (which allows for the control gear to be at one end or the other of the aquarium. The mains leads from the socket to the control gear are either 1.5m or 8m depending on which model you buy. Hope this helps Paul |

It is always a problem using any form of plastic with UV as the radiation eventually breaks down the plastic. The alternative is to use quartz but this is quite fragile and the last thing one wants is the outer tube to break under water. It is also expensive and not easy to get a good fitting/quartz seal in a way that would be aesthetically pleasing in an aquarium. We do however offer replacement tubes: the C011 (900mm) and C012 (1200mm) prices and availability from your dealer Paul s |

Could you attach the link regarding the golden crown lamp. Thank you. You mention the UV rays will disintergrate the plastic, if we are using 24/7 what the expected life span before the plastic start to crack? Cause it very dangerous once water slip in, it would cause a electrical shock all of our fishing will go up heaven ya. So we need to take note If we hang outside the tank example the thickness of the glasses is 12mm , the effectiveness of the UV rays transmitted to the aro will be cut down by how much? |

Using the D3 lamp is probably not a good idea as the lamp has some proportion of the phosphors that are used in our Original Tropical lamp and those are designed, amongst other things, for photosynthesis and I doubt the promulgation of algaes is something desired in an Arowana aquarium and the way the colours are rendered in the D3 lamp means that the appearance of the aquatope will appear unnatural. Also the amounts of UV-A and UV-B are proportionate to the requirements of the particular fish whilst the reptile lamps emit more light in the UV-B spectrum. In short the Arowana lamps are specifically engineered for arowana aquaria. Hope this helps Paul |
