notice that few of the pics of the working scrubbers are in freshwater.
i'm not saying that algal turf scrubbers don't work on freshwater (they do), but they are infinitely more effective and suited to marine systems.
santamonica, i don't mean to demean your work- in fact i think you have revolutionized the way a common reefkeeper thinks of the ATS. i myself am planning to install one in a soon-to-be octopus tank.
at the end of the day however, these filters are not among the best methods of freshwater filtration like they would be in saltwater.

We've heard from thousands of users and the scrubber has worked for both fresh water and salt water. Looking forward to see you scrubber picture.

since this thread has been bumped anyway...
does anyone know where to get plastic canvas locally? the plastic mesh stocked by places like self-fix or neighbourhood hardware shops are less than suitable for ATS use. you want something with small grids but is still stiff and sturdy. like this:

You can get plastic canvas in the craft store. It is usually under sewing section.
For the lamp in the photo, you can buy them in pet store. You can also use regular lamp, just make sure you got the correct wattage.
