Default HELP.. 3 SR Community..

Hi Bros n Sis, I'm new to this forum.

Recently, I bought 3 juvy N1WAN reds about 7-8 inches. Pick up date will be a few weeks later.
I'm planning to put them all in a 4x2x2 tank for the moment. And, early next year will move to 7.5x2.5x2.5.
I need help experts! Any new tips that you can share to make my comm successful?

Here's a list of the things i know to establish comm, pls. do correct me if I'm wrong:

1. Reds are less aggressive than golden arowanas (RTG, XBACK..)

2. Need to create strong current to make the aros busy (prevent fights)

3. Feed 2-3x a day to ease hunger

4. Cooler water temp make aros less aggressive

5. Introduce all of them at the same time in tank

6. Ideally, all of the aros should be of the same size OR 1 aro should be a little bit bigger to easily establish ALPHA?

LAST..
7. You need at least 5 aros to make successful comm?! As said earlier, RTGs > aggressive > REDs.
Will it be harder to establish 3 REDs compare to 5 RTGs?

Thank You in Advance!

- not true.

2. Need to create strong current to make the aros busy (prevent fights)
- just a distriction only.. they will still fight if they wan to.

3. Feed 2-3x a day to ease hunger
- normal of feeding is more depend on ur amount of each feeding

4. Cooler water temp make aros less aggressive
- cooler water-->no advised (more problem)

5. Introduce all of them at the same time in tank
-yes

6. Ideally, all of the aros should be of the same size OR 1 aro should be a little bit bigger to easily establish ALPHA?
- rather mention abt same batch (same size)

LAST..
7. You need at least 5 aros to make successful comm?! As said earlier, RTGs > aggressive > REDs.

all comm the same... there is no easy way... just a matter of luck.

My Fill-in the blank answers as follows :
1. Reds are less aggressive than golden arowanas (RTG, XBACK..)
False. All depends on individual characters of aro.

2. Need to create strong current to make the aros busy (prevent fights)
It will helps a little. I used to have overflow box in the main tank for emergency take cover in comm. I found it is helpful.

3. Feed 2-3x a day to ease hunger
As long as they have enough feed. I think.

4. Cooler water temp make aros less aggressive
Sorry, No idea.

5. Introduce all of them at the same time in tank
To me, it's a MUST if possible.

6. Ideally, all of the aros should be of the same size OR 1 aro should be a little bit bigger to easily establish ALPHA?
All about the same size. Alpha will establish by themself.

7. You need at least 5 aros to make successful comm?! As said earlier, RTGs > aggressive > REDs.
Will it be harder to establish 3 REDs compare to 5 RTGs?
The more no. of aros the higher the succesful rate in comm.

(correct me if I'm wrong)

basically gtohow and jtbc explained it ..

not advised for lower temps cuz aros need higher water temps... i would much rather have them fight than get them all sick becasue the water is cold.

and... better get that big 7ft tank ready soon... i believe the more space they have... the less they will fight or at lesat more room to run.

i will maintain a temperature of 30 F if my aros is young 6inch -7 inch till she reaches a size of maybe 13-14 inch. When aros is mature their immune system is stronger to resist sicknesss then you can opt to leave it on or off.

Just from my experience,

I had 3 SR in a comm tank and I bought 2 new Xback a month later. (All of them are about 20 cm)
I put them in the same tank. The fish seller told me that when you want to put the fish in the existing comm tank, you have to lower the water level (about 20 cm height) and boost it with strong current. This is to distract the fishes from fighting. And that is true... That's what I did when I put the X back in comm tank.
3 days later I add more water to reach the original level.

They never fight until this moment, but the X back becomes the Alpha of the group, even though he is the last one to arrive.
