i can only advise people who have been zapped until jialat jialat to get over with it.
Zapped means zapped ... just learn and move on.

I was banned before but now u can see i can even give points.
Just be very careful when posting.
Read the rules and regulations and be sensitive towards others.
Especially the big brothers, they can command more power than you could ever expect.

That time i offended a big bro unintentionally (never even say anything also considering an insult to him), so overnight i was zapped more than 10pts in a row until i kena banned.

So the morale of the story?
Dont make a comment unless you are very very sure wat u are saying.

Default Observation on Point System

It is undoubt that point system is proven to be effective tool in all forms of organisation be it in school, work or military.
I don't prefer to call it rep point system here bcos it really not reflecting a person reputation. Ever seen one with thousands over rep points by 3-4 yrs and some with hundred over points wihtin a month. Does it shows that this particular person is highly reputated in terms of personal character or valuable contributions to AF?

Bcos of this system, i observed and experienced that ppl are more aware of thier points and spend more efforts to attain and maintain it then really contributing to the forum. Many tricks and efforts has been developed and inplemented to form team of good buddies or other means in order to increase their strength/ego. Thus resulting in unhealthy envoirnment slowly evolved.

In all organisation, the rewarding and penalising power lies in the hand of a team of qualified persons (Appraisers) like teachers, managers or officers and not among the appraisee. Can't imagine if this system (peer to peer appraisal) to be implemented in any of the real world organisation. What will happens?? Unhealthy development...
It usually begins with well qualified appraiser to judge, evaluate and promote potential appraisee to become assistant appraiser (class master, Engineer, OtherRank Officers/SGT) to help in maintaining the orders. This will ensure that the system work properly.

The above are just my opinion it could be wrong or you may not agree. Please kindly comments so I can be enlightened. Bear in mind, we are here to share and learn from each others. No offence or hard feeling.

Agree totally..
The rep system is a very good system to maintain the reputation of a forumer however the "person" rewarding it should be having a guideline not thru a peer to peer.

Example 1, if i have a clan of AF bro. Everyone ups each other without any contribution, sooner or later all of us will be full of rep points but where is the contribution?

Example 2, recently i am clearing my discus because giving up of hobby and going into other fish. Selling my fish in the forum duoesn't hurt or cause harm to anyone. In the end i get zapped and the remarks given is "Dun waste time on your lousy discus". It is ultimately unreasonable that such acts are being approved and no correction are being done.

After all, the only thing i have to say, is that the rep points doesn't earn me a living. By zapping me doesn't mean i earn less for the day.. I dun live by the rep points.

I'm sure everyone has their opinions. Ask 10 persons and 10 persons have their opinions. Imagine if we have to cater to everyone's opinions. Isn't that even more chaotic ?

If you dun even care abt the points, why even bother about it ?

Only mods to zap/add your points ? Apparently you don't read. Or you choose to read only what you want to read. If everything is only by the mods, then we would have stick to the old system w/o the points and just kick/ban someone who break the guidelines. You withdraw a bidding prematurely, ban. You spew vulgarities, ban. You post multiple selling threads across all sections and spam, ban. No warning through deducting reps, just ban. That's what you all want ? Or you want to get zapped first as a warning ? That again, will differ from user to user. And then of cos there are those who thinks the mods are helluva free and can be like a old grandmother private messaging and nagging everyone who flouts the guidelines. Yes, everyone which is like 20,000 members who wun give two hoots abt being warned.

You have your opinion. We have ours. Don't like this system ? Too restricted ? Too claustrophopic ? Find somewhere that suits you.

Thread started more then 2 years ago and still some problems which doesn't like in the system.

It lies in the mentality of people who are not able to accept the way it is.

Well, just follow the house rules here and carry on your everyday posting life and everything will be okay.

Adhere and accept it, be happy......if not......good luck and bye.

FYI. I have read through the complete thread (tis one) b4 I give my opinion.
I believe you and most of us know very well what the point system bring about in this forum. You have achieved what you desire for but you also know very well what's going on behind the scene. I am not young thus mature enough to understand take/let go but majority of the members here are young. What are thier responses? Do they take it lightly and what direction of morale cultivation does it move towards? Is it healthy?
Are you going to let it be in order to have a system that work 'fine' to you?

I am 100% not against the point system but only have different opinion on the method of implementation. I think it is fine to have point system for members but point should be awarded by the section moderators and appointed senior members who have rise up to their reputation through proper and effective assessment.

I could have simply keep my mouth shut and walk away just as you said this is a free to go bulletin board but i think i should and right to bring this up for awareness be it for yourself or others.
Lastly, I treasure those nice bros contributions to this if not wonderful forum.
Good Night and think before you act. Is it the right way?
