Default Treatment for various Flowerhorn diseases.

white spot ? White shit ? hole in the head ?pop eyes(white eyes)?fungus?
broken fin n tail ....?

use what fish medicine to cure ? n water condition ? any one can share ?

Agree.... FH tends to fall sick easily if not cared for properly..... would be good if bros can share what medicine they use to cure various sicknesses.... OK, I start....

For white shit, i use Ocean Free Super Anti-Internal Parasites No.4.
For hole-in-head, fungus n cloudy eyes, i use Japanese yellow powder (pack is in Japanese, dunno what it says)

white spot, fungus = methylene blue (any brand).
cloudy eyes, hole in head, fin rot = japanese powder (think this is an antibiotic belonging to the furazone group), which is useful for gram +ve and gram-ve bacteria and others as well.
sometimes hole in head can also use metronidazole.
i use some salt in all of the above.

Hole in the head

Caused by Hexamita sp bateria, lack of nutrition and drastic fluctation in water quality

Symptoms: small head on the head, fish is lifeless and colour colour turn dull. shit colour is whiteish, sticky and fish often swim backward

Remedy: use medicine for treating Hexamita sp , add vegetable ingredients to the feed.

Prevention: Single out fish

Pop-eye

Caused: Unsuitable water quailty, water too alkaline or external wound

Symptom: Eye are swollen and popped out like Longan fruit

Remedy and prevention: Msintsin good water quality.

White spot

Caused: Poor water quality and infected by parasite

Symptoms: Initially small white spot appear on the fin, spot will gradually enlarge and spread to other part of body.
Fish feel itcy and start rubbing itself against sand or tank

Remedy: Increase temp to 28 degree, increase salt content, treat fish with Methylene Blue. mix 4 to 5 drop into 1 litre of water, then increase water temp to 28 degree.(Methylene Blue is harmful to water plants)

Prevention: Water temperature maintain at 25 drgree and above.

Gill Disease

Caused:Poor water quality, infected by bateria and parasite

Symptom: Gill become red and swollen,gill cover cannot be closed. Appetite decrease,body colour turn dull and breathing become fast and rapid.

Remedy: Increase salt content in the water, improve quality of water. Use 20ppm of Formalin to nurse for 12 to 24hr.

Intestinal Infection

Caused: Unhygienic feed, improper feeding(too much or too little), parasitic infection in the intestines.

Symptoms: Excrete of the fish is slimy ans stick tot ehanus. Fish will slowly lose appetite and discharge blood from teh swollen anus.

Remedy: Feed fish with antibiotics, provide proper feed. If the disease is by by indigestion, don't feed the fish let it fast for a few days.

About those jap yellow powder medication, can someone provide the proper dosage for it? I heard that many people have experience of overdose and their fish died as a result.

sorry I dunno the exact dosage..... usually pour the yellow powder into tank until water turn slightly yellowish then must stop. Cannot use too much coz the medication is very strong n can be lethal to the fish......
