Default Koi : My Favourite Kohaku from Torazo

The Torazo name in the koi world is very much like what Porsche is to the car world. It is one of the most well established farms in Japan (since 1917) and it is Torazo who stabalised the sanke variety in 1949, hence the Torazo Sanke is like what the 911 Carerra of the koi world.

Torazo also breeds very high quality kohaku, which are well sort after all over the world. See Mark Gardner's blog for some nice pics of Torazo handling his koi with TLC: http://yamakoshi.blogspot.com/2008/1...big-girls.html

Last year, I bought 3pcs of nisai from Torazo - 2 Kohaku and 1 Sanke. All of them turned out beyond my expectations. Here is our (my wife & I) favourite Kohaku in the whole pond, we named her Rose.

Torazo Kohaku 70cm Sansai

The picture does Rose no justice becos she is the most graceful and most elegant koi in our pond - the grace with which she swims & the gentleness with which she feeds is what really endears her to us. She came to us last Nov as a nisai at 55cm, fresh out of the mud ponds of Torazo, and now she is 70cm! Truely jumbo potential at 2 and a half years old.

Pattern is so-so only simply cos I cannot afford the nice patterned ones.

As Torazo Kohaku has some Dainichi lineage, no doubt that this is an eye catching koi. Really nice and long head with lipstick! I think if this kohaku have a longer odome will be lagi best! Overall, it is a very beautiful kohaku to have.
