for planted it makes ur plants photosynthesise? haha actually no need for lights to be 24 hrs lah..
gfs need to sleep and rest also..

Unless you want to have green water for your Goldfish, otherwise not necessary

1 or 2 hours enough if your tank is not a planted tank..
