The tanks are checked very often so the water should still be safe for human consumption but perhaps it's affecting the fish strangely.
Very interesting point... this goes hand in hand with the complaints from some ppl that chemicals are dosed in the water tanks at night so they have issues when doing wc at night, while others like me have no issues. I stay at the 11th floor btw.

it's confirmed those from higher floors get from tank above and those on lower floor from pipes.

those from tank above usually also lower water pressure.

So even if same block also will have diff water conditions for upstairs and downstairs.

Was also told chem etc for the tanks above is usually once a week.

adding on - different estates the pipes diff age. I will reckon the older blocks will have rusty pipes, algae in pipes etc

If only PUB/TC informs residents when they are doin tank cleaning... den we can avoid the chems timely

It may not be the PH factor.
I am residing in SK and always drink water direct from tap. I've found that on certain days of the month, the chlorine/ fluorine smell is stronger.

Top 3 to 4 floors will have their system boost by water pump.

From first to 4 floors is direct supply from water main.

Dosing of chem is done by PUB at pumping main, not at roof.

Roof tanks are only washed once a year as regulated by PUB.

Water pipes materials are regulated by PUB should not rust because, only copper or SS pipes are allowed. Water mains are using ductile iron lined with cement.

Copper/SS pipe will only oxidized.

Just my 2 cents worth.

One thing for sure, tap water after 9pm daily smells strong and heavy in bedok reservoir.

Normally, I let the tap runs for a few minutes before I begin the topping up.

So far, no impact to the fish.

So... any idea 11th floor water come from where ?

On another note I took nitrites/nitrates readings from the tap water when I was doing wc earlier today.... very shocked to find nitrites at 0.5 to 1 ppm. Nitrates at 10 to 20 ppm which is expected. But the nitrites is really shocking...

PUB will not dose chem into the tank from what I know.

Water tanks need to be washed once a year and need License Plumber to certified the process and also send water sample to be tested at lab before PUB allows it to be used again.
