Question What to do when getting a 2nd hand tank/tub

when one gets a 2nd hand tank/tub, whats steps or methods can be done/used to ensure possible diseases don't spread over? wash with soap and then sun it? or fill with salt water, cycle it and sun it?

scrub clean the algae and slim especially if u got the accesories too. Sterilize with hot water through all areas that water will run thru. De best u let dry or sun it for a few days. no soap pls.
ok, thanks, one more thing, if ranchus are kept outdoor in a tub, is rain water good for them, or should i shelter them from it? should i shield them from the sunlight as well?

rain water is soft... too much isn't good. and yes, the tub should be partially shield and allow gap between the tub and shelter for ventillation.

I think depends on what u want lor. If u want green water, then i think the more sunlight the merrier. As for rain, think it is too acidic, not very good for fishkeeping. But cannot be avoided if kept outside. Maybe can send greenngold an email to find out more
