I tink treatment is easy. Salt and heater. If it is abit late showing a lot of blood stride then yellow powder, salt and heater. But if u r adding med after every wc I tink is not a good idea. Ur fishes will be immune to those med. does ur tank come into contact wif rain? Indoor or outdoor?

This symptom looks external and you probably have missed the window of opportunity to treat effectively. For this case, I would do a salt dip of 3% for 5mins immediately if fish is still lively then follow by 0.5% salt at QT with 100% w/c daily (very important). Follow up salt dips can also be done daily if required. Be-Furan, Triple Sulfa, yellow powder and Acrifalvine can also be used but don't mix with any. There are lots of options.

Just asking, are you sure you got this correct? If its external, is 3% salt a good way to cure the fish? If really 3%, the chances of the fish dying is high before even reaching 5mins is super high right? |

The purpose of salt dipping is to remove as much parasites and bacteria as possible by removing the affected fish's slime coat. This will clear the way for more effective treatment with medicines. If fish is already half dead then salt dipping like that will surely send him up lorry. Just to share further as it may sound shocking. I've also successfully done dipping on a batch my 2cm + fry @1.5% b4 too.(suspected heavy fluke infestation) They are able to stand about one min b4 fainting. I did a dip everyday for 3 days and managed to save most of them. So I think if you were to do it carefully, it is very safe, imo even safer than using medications. |

make sure temp and ph only min difference from original, i add the fish in after 10 mins, in this way no stress to our fish. for 50% water change , no need holding tank, just change and add in water, of course you still add in sodium bicarbonate and prime before adding water. hope this help, |

Gee thanks much for all your valuable inputs...my fishes are outdoor and I'm still trying to grasp the correct approach when it comes to maintaining good water parameter and keeping my fishes happy.
Sad to witness the fish wasting away day after day. I also bought Ocean Free medi for internal bacteria and septicaemia but it was too late. Am trying to learn from all how best to tackle any similar situation going forward |

I would say until recovered or showed critical moments has passed, then reduce salt slowly, otherwise one month max. Some people will argue it's best have salt in there all the time. |
