Default Sturridge's Chelsea stunner wins LFC Goal of the Month

Daniel Sturridge's stunning curler at Stamford Bridge has been voted Liverpool's Goal of the Month in September.

The Reds No.15 rescued a point for his team in the 89th minute of the Premier League encounter with a precise strike from 25 yards out.

And his effort was the landsline winner in our Goal of the Month poll on Liverpoolfc.com.

Roberto Firmino's late decider past Paris Saint-Germain took second spot, while Sturridge's volley in the Carabao Cup tie with Chelsea was third.

The goals from Sadio Mane and Firmino in the 2-1 win at Leicester City finished fourth and fifth respectively.

The importance of Firmino

Jurgen Klopp will tomorrow celebrate his three-year anniversary as manager of Liverpool Football Club.

One player - more than any other - has become his most trusted lieutenant on the pitch over the past three years, Roberto Firmino.

As Jurgen Klopp approaches 3 years as Liverpool’s manager, Roberto Firmino is the player that has made more apps & scored most goals for the club under him in PL

Certainly a gamble moving Joe Gomez from centre-back where he has performed so well this season. His partnership with Van Dijk has been one of LFC's big strengths.

Reds into third

That Chelsea win means Liverpool go into this game in third place.

City, by the way, appear to have opted with a team that has only one ‘proper’ midfielder in Fernandinho.

With Sterling, the two Silvas, Sterling and Mahrez helping out Aguero, it’s going to be one where there is plenty of attacking going on…
