Tough luck for England...really.
Croatia’s first goal could have been chalked off for a high boot.
It was within a few inches of connecting with the defender’s head.
England lost the battle in midfield.
It’s not their natural game to press for Ali and Lingard. But they had to do it to contain Modric and Rakitic. Thus offering less support to Kane and Sterling.
Maybe if Southgate had gone the Spurs way to contain midfield with addition of Dier. Then a front three of Kane, Ali and Sterling. That could trouble the Croat defence more.

In the final, Croatia’s extra energy spent so far could come back and bite them.
They need to recover fast as they need all the energy to match France’s speedy attacks.

England might got a two goals lead in the 1st half

After the break, Croatia up their pace.
Was surprised Sterling was sub out....though he was giving problems to the Croatia defense and midfield.

That was probably the one biggest mistake Southgate made all through the tournament which proved costly especially on such vital game.
But Rashford also did himself no favours throughout this WC in my opinion. Probably disillusioned cos he was only a sub all the way. Played with only occasional bursts and more often then not, if we watch the whole proceedings on the screen, he was at walking pace.
Of course we must not forget the Croatian fighting spirit all through the WC. Never give up when 1-0 behind, whereas for England, when Croatia equalised, they seems lost and became very disorganised all over

Towards full time and also in extra time, England players like deflated. Some were like going through motion. Spirit not as strong definitely

Soccer is a fair game. Everyone has a part to play.

Doesn't mean you have big leagues you will win for sure.

I hope Croatia wins the World Cup. This will be a boast to other countries who are still trying to get on the path to the World Cup.
