Liverpool name surprise inclusion in 21-man squad for PSG trip as Reds forwards are left out

Sadio Mane has been included in Liverpool’s 21-man travelling squad for Wednesday's Champions League tie at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Senegalese winger had initially been a doubt for the trip to France through illness, but, after being assessed by staff at Melwood, was deemed fit enough to take part in open training as normal on Tuesday before being named in the Reds’ travelling party.

Joe Gomez has also been included in the squad after missing Saturday's win over Watford through injury, but Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke all miss out.

Elsewhere, fresh from scoring a Merseyside derby winner for the Under-23s on Sunday, 18-year-old Rafael Camacho is also included in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the trip to Paris.

The Portugal youth international is yet to feature for Liverpool’s first team but was an unused substitute for last season’s clash with Everton at Goodison Park in April, while he also impressed for the Reds during pre-season.

Liverpool squad: Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Alisson, Henderson, Sturridge, Moreno, Mignolet, Shaqiri, Robertson, Matip, Kelleher, Camacho, Alexander-Arnold.

1-0 or 2 goal margin win enough.

Last night’s match was lost in midfield, PSG play acting and dodgy ref misses not withstanding
