XB Aro Scale Problem! Help!!!
Hi guys,
Desperately need all the help/advice I can possibly get. I just got a crossback, less than 5 days ago. Previously, had one HBRTG inside. There are 2 tin foil barbs inside as tank mates. I noticed my crossback having scale problem: I checked my PH...too alkaline. So went out to buy pH down and got the Furan G medication as well as Ocean Free External Bacteria and Fungus Away. Did a 30% water change. Added in lots of salt and anti chlorine. Washed all the media and canister filter with hot water and changed some media. Can u guys telll me what else I can do? It is very heartbreaking to see my fish suffer like that. Will it heal and will the wounds close up nicely? I was told that it will heal but will probably leave a scar or mark there. I was also told that the only way for it to become flawless and beautiful again is to surgically remove the rotten scales and let them regrow. The arowana is still juvenile. about 7-9 inches. What do u guys think? Haiz... Regards Bryan |

Inflammation cause by yr lousy water, if could be the feeder u feed also
One thing for sure is too many medication at one go will only kill the aro instead of healing it |

not to mention sudden change in PH (as you are trying to bring it down) can be deadly as well
mind sharing what is the PH you measured and considered as too alkaline? Yes salt, heater and good water quality is sufficient. |

btw from the photos there might be evidence of foam/bubbles forming and not breaking at water surface
sure sign of not so ideal water quality. what filter are you using and what are your measurements for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? hope he recovers soon |

Hopefully he recovers with no scarring. else I will have to subject him to surgery to remove the affected scales and allow new ones to grow out. Thanks. |
