oh...i laid a layer of filter bag above the leca to prevent the GEX soil from slowly sifting into it and going into the false bottom. Thats the big mistake that ive made initially. Forgotten to put this layer....the GEX started to slowly go through the leca....if dun put the filter bag, the GEX will slowly flow through and choke up the pump. Thickness will also decrease over time.

i see... maybe u might wan to cover it up with some rocks or wood or putting some plants over them? i think it will look nicer... u make mi itchy to try 1 vivarium also....

ya..will be doing something to cover up the filter bag..i kiasu...thats y put so high...afraid the GEX might 'escape' below ma.

Try la....this is my first setup so im using it to try all different types of moss and plants...next time then try to do better ones.

now no time la.... after june then can try if i wan to start.... not planning to keep any animals inside?? like tree frogs or newts?

i scared of newts and frogs.....

Intending to use netting and attach java moss, then stick on the background and have water flowing down from the top, but dunno if it would work.

this is wat i thought of last time when i was thinking of setting up a vivarium... have a styrofoam baclground and make some small holes in them. for the outlet of the pump attach a rain bar and for each hole of the rainbar attach a airtube n connect the airtube to the holes which u have made earlier on the background. i think it will look quite natural as though its a small waterfall... then u can also put some moss on the background and the water will flow through the moss n drip onto the plants below... i dunno whethere its workable anot... maybe u can try out...
