PAP's Achievements
To be fair, PAP also did much good the last 30 odd years..
so here they are? 1. sound economy ( ya build up by FTs and profiting the elites ) 2. sound civil service without corruption.. ( not so bad compared to others?) 3. tolerable road transport 4. tolerable public transport? 5. unrest free? 6. sound medical services ( ya ya expensive la.. cheaper to die than to fall sick) 7. sound basic housing.... (quickly becoming unaffordable).. ........... |

true true..
for business men, some actually like "corruption".. can get work done quickly. just part of business cost.. the bigger the company, the bigger the project, the higher the corruption.. eg.. arms. for undertable corruption... quite often projects are undertaken SOLEY to benefit some parties, whether the project is eventually successfully implement or of any use is not of concern to them. this is the kind of corruption that is counter productive and must be done away with else the country will surely fall |

30 yrs a lot of very good things done earlier on by the old guards. More recent credit on the economic front (debatable of course) are:
-Carving out wealth management niche/support hubs for financial institutions -Carving out offshore oil and gas industry, esp rigbuilding -Revamping Singapore into a tourism spot with F1, casinos, etc. i mean, you See more A list concerts in Singapore these days, when they never use to come here. -Basically on the economic front, not dying when our manufacturing kenna hollow out by rise of China, and with HK/Shanghai being the annointed financial centres for China. |
