Default New Shrimp Tank Setup (Photos)

Finally I've decided to upgrade my shrimp tank to a 2ft glass tank. Originally a see through glass tank, I've pasted a sheet of black backing so that it would help bring out the colors of the aquarium.

The substrate used is GEX Shrimp and Plants soil from Japan.

Spread a layer of shrimp soil onto the tank.

Use lava rocks to create elevated terrains.

Use Mosura sold sea mud powder to enhance water quality and remove harmful substances.

Sprinkle a layer of Mosura mud powder on the surface.

Cover it with another layer of shrimp soil.

Now add the plants and position them as it would appear in the way you would want them to be.

Slowly add water to prevent splashing and displacements of plants.

Once the water has been added, install the Eheim AquaCompact filter. The Eheim Aqua Compact 40 is a small compact external power filter for open aquariums from 20 to 40 litres. It is delivered complete with fine and course filter pads and Eheim Ehfisubstrat Pro bio media.

Condition the water by adding Mosura Shi Zhen Power. It removes chlorine and breaks down chloramines in tap water, and is formulated specially for crustaceans.

Supplement it with Mosura BT-9 to purify the water and decompose harmful ammonia and nitrate.

Add the water conditioners according to instructions.

Lastly, include the floating plants so that the shrimps can hang onto the roots.

Since this is a heavily planted tank, it is mandatory to provide the plants with CO2. Place the CO2 diffuser near the inlet of the filter for more efficient dissemination of CO2 throughout the tank.

Monitor the parameters of the newly setup tank.

Allow the newly setup tank to cycle for at least one week before adding livestock.

Day 3 into the cycling process. A much clearer tank after the dust has settled.

That's a lot of plants. Will suggest lesser plants or else you will have a hard time spotting your shrimps and also doing trimming liao.
