LFS Specialising in Ranchu/Oranda
Hey guys, I am thinking of adding another one or two baby ranchu or oranda to my tank. Specifically looking for pure white ones.
I have only been to Seaview and they don't seem to have any pure white ranchu or oranda babies. Anyone have a good recommendation where I can go to look see look see? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The relevant question is what's your budget?
Here's my personal benchmark: <$25 B grade. Sometimes you may score an A or AA grade fish if you are lucky. Above $25 to $80, A grade or occasionally AA grade Above $100, AA or AAA grade B grade = The "common" grade fish you'd buy for your 5 year old A grade = Better than average fish, well-balanced body with appealing color AA grade = "Show" grade AAA grade = "Competition" grade with high potential to win in specific category This is my personal opinion, some may disagree for reasons that I could understand. In any case, it's all about personal preference. If you like a particular fish, it's AAA grade to you, regardless of its price tag. |

Thanks everybody for the recommendations! I will be sure to check those shops out.
Bro AdamC: thanks for the in-depth sharing on the pricing. i just started the hobby so any kind of information is very much welcomed! I like ranchus and orandas because I remember my father rearing them when I was young (he has since moved on to luohan and discus) and they look so beautiful. As an amateur, I want to learn to grow them properly first and that's why I am starting with the babies. Don't know much about form and balance yet, but so far I bought the GFs that I have because I felt that I had a special connection with them when I was at the LFS. Haha hope I don't sound too stupid! First thing first, research into water chemistry and bioload. It's both critical and essential to successful GF keeping. |
