Auction: DFI 13th Comm of 5 Perfect Xbacks

Dear all,
For the moment, we will skip the 12th Comm auction in favour of this 13th Comm auction . These are the so-called Dream Xbacks for many people - perfect in every sense of the word, basically, defects free from barbels to tail.

Pearlies are 30-50%, shine is metallic and high, colour is intense. But price wise, its only from S$1,000 onwards (ie S$200 each fish) for these Perfect 15-16 inches Xbacks. At S$200 retail, you can only get a 7-8 inch good quality xback at the LFS but now, at this auction you are getting 15-16 inches Xbacks - what a great difference!!!

This auction will end tonight, 7th August at 11pm (ie 2300 hrs). Collection must be on or before 9th August, 2015.

Dear all,
It is very very sad to learn from these series of auctions that only cheap Imperfect Xbacks can sell in today's market and that there are simply no market for Perfect Adult Cross Backs, even if we were to price them at 7-8 inch Cross backs' local retail price.

Thus, it is very disheartening indeed to learn that the Cross Back market has come to this situation ... For an Adult Cross Back that used to sell for S$3,000-4,000 each before 2011, is now NOT even worth S$200 each ...

I used to tell people why DFI is exiting the Arowana market soon, its cos the prices of Cross Backs has fallen by as much as 80-90% since 4 years ago, but I must have been too optimistic with my estimation ....as using the above figures proved my estimation deadly wrong.

Fortunately, we have found a market for the rest of the 40 plus Perfect Adult Xbacks, so I guess, we will not be continuing with these auctions for Perfect Adult Xbacks.

Last but not least, received a few enquiries for Auction Comm no. 11, which is also Perfect Xbacks priced at S$150 each but received no bids, too. A steady supporter has already reserved Comm 11 for collection today, and at the starting bid price of S$750 for the comm. Our heartfelt thanks to him here really ...
