Antoine Griezmann would be class and be able to fit into the way we play.

not going to happen, way too expensive to be a back up to our front 3.

We already can't ask for much from our front 3.
Our opponents just pack the box and our front 3 can't do much even they have the ball.
We need goals outside the box. And goals from set piece
A good playmaker who can long shot or pass outside the box.
This will lure opponents out of the box to stop our long shot.
And will make space for our front 3.
Shaqiri can do the job. Ox can do the job.
Beside VVD I hope another goal scoring defender Harry Maguire or Yerry Mina is good choice.

Default Mohamed Salah wins CAF African Player of the Year award

Mohamed Salah has been named CAF African Player of the Year for the second successive year.

Just as he did 12 months ago, the Liverpool forward held off competition from teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to land the award.

A poll of CAF’s national teams’ head coaches and technical directors, members of the governing body’s technical and development committee and a panel of media experts selected Salah as the continent’s outstanding footballer in 2018.

The Egyptian received the accolade at a ceremony in Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday evening, where he was also included in the Africa Best XI for 2018 alongside Mane and Naby Keita.

He scored 44 times during a 2017-18 campaign in which he helped his club reach the Champions League final, before then netting twice at last summer’s World Cup.

A further 16 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool have followed so far this season, while Salah also contributed four goals in three Africa Cup of Nations qualification outings for his country in 2018.

The 26-year-old’s performances throughout the year also saw him retain the BBC African Footballer of the Year prize and finish sixth in the Ballon d’Or standings.

Default Mo Salah wins December Goal of the Month

Mohamed Salah's hat-trick strike at Bournemouth has been voted Liverpool's Goal of the Month for December.

Having already scored twice against the Cherries in the Premier League clash, the No.11 broke clear and dribbled around a series of challenges before coolly sealing his treble from close range.

The effort took the most votes in our poll here on Liverpoolfc.com to claim the prize, ahead of Salah’s crucial winner past Napoli in the Champions League tie at Anfield.

Roberto Firmino’s slalom against Arsenal took third place, Divock Origi’s unforgettable decider in the Merseyside derby was fourth, and Salah’s second at Bournemouth came fifth.

Liverpool considering loan offers for forward Ben Woodburn after disappointing Sheffield United spell

Liverpool are considering a host of loan offers from the Championship for Ben Woodburn.

The 19-year-old attacker is back at Melwood undergoing treatment after his season-long stay at Sheffield United was cut short.

Woodburn endured a disappointing stint with the Blades as he struggled to command a place in Chris Wilder's side. He made the last of his eight appearances on November 3 and his loan was terminated after he suffered an ankle injury in training.

The Wales international has responded well to treatment and is expected to be back in full training at Melwood next week.

A number of Championship clubs have already contacted Liverpool about the possibility of securing Woodburn's services for the rest of the season.

Blackburn Rovers, Brentford and Hull City are among those keen to give Woodburn the opportunity to secure regular game time.

Jurgen Klopp is open to the idea of loaning Woodburn out again but is no rush to make a final decision until later in the January window.

The Reds are still considering a loan offer from Sporting Lisbon for Rafa Camacho. The 18-year-old Portugal youth international made his debut in Monday's FA Cup defeat to Wolves.

Odds on Virgil

Virgil van Dijk is now as short as 4/5 to win the PFA Player of the Year award as he continues to be a giant in the Liverpool defence.

The Dutchman was available at an incredible 125/1 at the start of the season but his odds have systematically tumbled throughout the season.

Punters have been consistently wading in on the centre-half and he has accounted for 26.5% of bets on the market since 10th August.

Liverpool have only conceded 10 goals in the league this season, which is six less than the next best defence in Chelsea. At this point last term, they had already conceded 25.

David Silva is his closest rival in the market at 7/1, whilst Eden Hazard (10/1), Harry Kane (12/1), Mo Salah (12/1) and Raheem Sterling (12/1) all remain outside chances for the individual award.

Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek: “Virgil van Dijk’s performances have been monumental season. He has completely transformed a defence that was all over the place before he arrived.

“Punters haven’t stopped piling their cash on the Dutchman for the individual award and the 125/1 available back in August now looks ludicrous.

“He would be a worthy winner – without him it is unlikely Liverpool would be challenging for the title.”
