I think they are scratching for algae along the water border, their head half emerged. My shrimps and snails did that too.

i remember last time my bros hof also the shrimps do this ... however never encounter when using canister filter ,not sure why they do tat also , i ever read someone mentioned becos of poor water quality they trying to get out

shrimpbait , i noticed in yr photos u feed alot of food , actually just put in one small piece and let them fight over the food , cos u dont want uneaten food to rot and add to the bioload , that may be the cause of yr deteriorating water quality

only the Berried shrimps do this? Check your water and increase aeration. Berried shrimps seems to require higher O2 levels.

They could be under stress. Check your water. Pregnant female is a bit more sensitive.
