The warm start of a good ballast actually slowly increase the intensity of the light, which will not shock ur animals out of the sudden with strong intensity of light. This is the same as
some of the reefers who on the blue light 1st, before a large quantities of lights r being introduced. IMO a good ballast will fare so much better than a cheap one,
we know that all lightings suffer spectral shift over time, if a cheap set of ballast were used would the lamp suffer the spectral shift even faster than a year time or maybe half a yr?
