In our case, since we change our tubes on a yearly (average) basis, it doesn't really matter. T5s were designed to last a lot longer than that more like 2 years. These are usually used in offices or factories in Europe, and are not changed until the tubes burn out. That's why they need the longer lifespan. And that's why even cheaper ballasts like the Elbirus should be fine for us.
