I am glad that you have tried it, but there are several problems will cause it not to work.
First problem is the light, algae mostly absorb red light so the red 660nm LED will be the best and also the light need to be 1 watt per square inch. Second problem is that the screen is not roughen up enough, make sure it is really rough that there is parts and pieces sticking out. Also move the bubbler to the front of the screen of the light side. I think your algae will grow much better after you made these changes.
