From the 5th to 7th August, Orto Restaurant Management through various hobbyists' entities is hosting multi pets events. Represented are some Bird Club, Dog Club, Luohan and Betta Club and all of them are hosting competitions to celebrate the occasion.
The Ranchu group in Af Goldfish and Koi Section was also invited to display their ranchus. As such and after discussing with various ranchu khakis, we decided to have a Ranchu Appreciation Session and culminating in a free dinner at Mookata Seafood Buffet Restaurant...

The funding for the dinner is from the funds we collected from various sources and we hope to use these fund to promote ranchu in Singapore. Eventually as we older ranchu folks fadeaway (many of us are in our late fifties and sixties), we hope we can help generate enough interest and younger ranchu players can come on the scene and willingly shoulder and promote ranchu keeping as a healthy past time.
Origin of the Fund:
As there was a bit of misunderstanding regarding how we came to collect the money and our intention with the money...herein I like to share how it came about.
Last year in November, a group of ranchu fanatics made the trip up north to Bangkok to witness the All Thai Ranchu Show which is an annual event. While there we met up with the Japanese judges and amongst them was Master Takehasi who have many good memories about Singapore. In the midst of our conversations, Master Takehasi asked Mod TVR to invite him to Singapore. We were all lost for words because Master Takehasi is sitting on the highest most quorum in the Nichiran Ranchu Club...Master Takehasi parents were the original founding member together with the Ishikawa family and he is very highly revered/respected in Japan and around the ranchu community all over the world.
To open mouth invite is one thing, but no money..how to go about realising it?
From that incident, the ranchu khakis decided that without a fund, it is very hard to commit to any ranchu event or promotion and thus the idea of the fund was formed with the initial contributions made voluntarily by various ranchu khakis who were present. We also sold some basins, won some prices like watches and arrowana at Af anniversary and after selling those items, the money collected went into the fund. We also collected some from selling of ranchu eggs which we hope to do so voluntarily every breeding season..sell the eggs and dump the $$$ into the central pool and meanwhile help guide new keeper in breeding and grooming ranchus.
The Ranchu Appreciation is laissez faire style...free wheeling...come chat ranchu, ask whatever you need like...ranchu keeping, breeding, ranchu history etc etc. Most of us been playing ranchu since the 1990's and will be most happy to pass on our ranchu knowledge and know how.
As there are limited sitting for the dinner, we will open 10 slots for a first cum basis. Please list your name below if you like to attend the ranchu event and indicate whether can join us for dinner. Also we will like to invite the few bros who paid for the eggs to join us for dinner and please tell us your experiences raising all those fries...successful or not never mind...always can try again. Maybe Mod TVR can list those nicks who took the eggs.
