Dear all,

Tried an experiment using a Peltier unit and I thought that I'll share the results. It was a very simple idea, just sandwich a peltier between 2 heatsinks and then immerse the bottom one in water and the top heatsink run a fan to cool it. Like this:

The results were disappointing. The temperature was brought down by only about 2C, from 28 to 26 after an hour of running:

In comparison, when I hooked up the PC to blow directly at the water, the temperature managed to hit about 24.5C or so. Given the cost of running the peltier and the fan, it is definitely more practical to use the fan, albeit with the evaporation that it entails.

Cheers
