Bro epon, easiest way is to check for nitrate. When tank is cycled, nitrite n ammonia should be 0 with presence of nitrate.

to stabilize the pH or to raise the pH depends on the amount of coral chip u put in. Recommended to slowly add the coral chips and monitor on a daily basis til the desired pH is reached.

Bro, i think u got it wrong. The media themselves do not reduce nitrates. It's the bacteria that grow on the media that reduces nitrates. That being said, we compare the surface area to volume ratio...

Can try asking the lfs to cut for you, i asked mine to show me how to cut, that's where i found out how to do it. but mine was a straight forward cut to length. if not u can use bro vitor's method.

I usually use a shear to cut each individual joint then use a metal spatula to clear the remaining protruding parts.
Have seen a LFS owner use a metal ruler to "cut" the egg crate to size
