I also placed the mc in the 2nd layer with wool on the top tray. The MC actually stay relatively clean even after 2 weeks of use. The wool on top has filtered off most of the dirt.

It will clear the water. Do dissolve as much of the powder before pouring the solution into the tank. If too much undissolved powder, your aro may "choke", a bit like coughing but no harm.

I will normally drop mp at the other end of the tank from where the aro is so that it can see it. If the mp goes below the mid level, my aro will not goes for it unless very hungry.

You may want to give them something else beside mp to get them eating again. I did this with my aro. Main diet is mp. Sometimes it just stopping eating mp. I wil then let it eat meal worm for a week...
