But doesn't the two fins being joined at the top affect the swimming of the goldfish ?

I've noticed that many ranchus being sold has this problem of the top part of the caudal fins being fused or combined together. Pls look out for this. Also for young ranchus, sometimes the two...

I think I second tt- what is it eating? If tubifex worm then not counted. Think there is some internal issue. Try Epsom salt in water first then mix it in the food.

Since this has confirmed tt your male is working, next time when they lay eggs, drip methylene blue in. Until you can barely see the eggs.
I found it v effective as it gave me a v good hatch rate.
