I know some ppl actually don't even turn on the lights! haha makes them feel more comfortable.

Definitely will not consider leaving the lights on for too long. I set mine for 8hrs only.

Why need to on the light 24/7 in the first place? I think not necessary as some pleco may feel shy or skittish when light on. Unless you has been kept the pleco for some time and they get use to it with the light. On light only when viewing. Some pleco very active when light off. ;)

I only turn on the lights during water change. At all other times, the light is off.

I don't use lights for my tanks only.

Sry About that. I don't use lights for my tanks. Only ceiling lights and touch light to see them.

You can actually train the pleco's to get used to the lights. I prefer to ON lights just to see them properly.
Use auto timer to set your lights.
