how to bring in live fish via SQ ?
Hi, I will be going to Thailand, Indonesia and probably Kuching on short trips soon.
May I know which are the known methods of bringing in Marine fishes back by air (if I happen to see something I like) ? My target fish types are small ones as I only have 2ft tanks - small starfish - small unique fish (max 2 inches) - small FW puffers (Carinotetraodon borneensis, Carinotetraodon salivator or Carinotetraodon irrubesco, maybe SAPs) Also would anyone be able to advise what "hardware" would I need ? - air pellets (those put in water to supply O2 for short time) - batt operated air pump - special box ? (this one unless I can buy there coz I will not be carrying it ard) - thick plastic bags (like those use in LFS for "larger" fish, this I can get can standby in luggage) - black water (to darken water to reduce stress) - other chemicals (stress coat or others) Lastly, to check in or hand carry ? |
Check in for sure, I usually buy the fish on the day of the flight and put the bags in an Airtight box. Should not be a problem for short flights.

Refer to the link below:
http://www.ava.gov.sg/InformationFor...rnamentalFish/ If checking in, do not pump the bag full of air. Got experience with my bag of potato chips in my check in luggage "exploding" :p |
SQ will accept livestock as check-in baggage. U have to prepare packaging materials such as cartons before u depart for Bangkok.
