LFS & Farms that Carry Quality Goldfish(Strictly not for discussion)

This list is not exhaustive. Feel free to add those I miss out.

The way goldfish is, no LFS or farms can guarantee the quality of fish they sell. A bro may catch a good one from a certain LFS but it does not mean you can also find an identical one when you visit.

When bros do post good fish sighting, ya better be quick to move your butts to catch too within 12 hours.

Looking for THE ranchu is probably a game of luck. Patient is the key for success. Narrowing down your search to the following LFS and farms may help.

C328 - Clementi Florist and Aquariums

Usually have a few small tubs and glass tanks of goldfish. Occasionally can find cheap and nice ranchu, demekin and ryukin. Has the largest selection of accessories with competitive pricing. Friendly bosses and helpers too. Impossible to select fish on crowded hours. Closed on Sundays. There are three LFS on the same block. The real C328 is the one next to Neptune Clinic.

Things to do: Eat clay-pot rice at the next door coffee shop, visit PolyArt to admire their maine tanks (hee hee hee.)

Aquatic Connection

The place master keepers hang out on Monday evening. :D You think the fish got standard or not? Closed on Sundays.

Things to do: Hang with the goldfish dudes.

TFT - The Fish Tank

Often have nice Thai side and top view ranchus. Oranda and Demekins also good. Price is quite competitive. Regular clients get telephone call updates on new arrival. Others must try their luck weekly. :D Used to bring in quality top-view Japs. Generally a reliable source of good thai ranchus. Noon to 8 pm. Closed on Sunday (I think.)

Things to do: Eat fabulous ice kachiang with peanut topping at the hawker centre; go to the store with a long que!

QH - QianHu Fish Farm

It's a love and hate place. Love it for the large varieties. Hate it for their generally poor fish health. :( Provides free bus transport on weekends and public holidays. Does not provide glass tank to select side-view fishes in comfort.

Things to do: Play kiddy rides for 20 cents, throw 5 cents into the wishing well, shop for ocean-free, arcadia, eheim products.

Green and Gold - Vermillion

Sells quality goldfish on-line.

Web Site

Things to do: Learn about green water for your goldfish.

happybuddha 20-08-2003 02:23 PM

Straits

Imports thai side-view and top-view ranchus regularly, although the quantity and frequency they import is lower than summer koi but I could be wrong. Breed and sell award winning betta fish.

Things to do: Watch bros sian the uncle for a "good plice" while totally ignoring the older marketing manager.

happybuddha 20-08-2003 02:24 PM

Long Hu

Has tendency to claim Thai/Chinese ranchus as Japanese but at least priced accordingly. Not bad to visit when in the serangoon north LFS neighborhood. Sells cheap plants in plastic bags.

Things to do: Tease the mustache uncle about his japanese ranchu. Sian the "broken wrist" uncle for a discount.

C354 - Green Aquarium

Sells retail grade japanese ranchu, and tosakin too. Resembles in many ways to Japan Ranchu Palace.

Things to do: Test to see if the "hoo" in your wallet works or not.

Keong Seong Fish Shop

Usually has a a few tanks of medium to big sized side-view ranchus. Distributor of JBL (and maybe Italian brand Hydro too) products.

Things to do: Check out marine and planting tank supplies.
