Newbie Question

Hi guys, thinking of converting my 422 with sump tank into a planted. Is this kinda tank suitable? Went thru the gallery & notice all using normal tank with cannisters. Kindly advise.

my guess is planted tank doesn't need too much filter media setup, and prefer much more "quiet" waterflow else all the plants are "blow" off?

problem with sump tank is you will loose lots of CO2 though you can compensate that by injecting more.

planted tank it self has its own way to keep the tank clean

can overcome by using a low flow-rate pump to minimize water circulation

it is how the water drop into the sump tank that causing the CO2 lost

What sand is recommended? I'm looking into low tech planted tank.

JBL Basefert with Lapis Sand.

I love ADA, especially if you want to grow foreground plant though foreground on low tech tank is questionable :)

Finally got the materials to start my planted. But 1st, will the sand be sucked away by the underflow of the EOS? If so, is there anyway to stop it?

2nd, shd i remove all my discus before I pour the sand in?
