Hi Bro Lim,

Congratulate for such a good breed of Oranda, they look huge and nice. I also adopt some from you but the growth is never your pace. Now only 7cm maximum while your already 12 - 13 cm. Impressive of your technique and rearing method! Thanks for sharing the picture and update :)

This are solid oranda, the body may look massive know, but wait till the headgrowth start to kick in, thats where the awe and power will come together.

If Uncle Lim would be willing to share their pics after another 2 mths, you would know what i meant:D

MiuMiu 23-04-2008 10:44 AM

Other than the size, the fish looks normal, just so so only. IMHO.

Dragonball'03 23-04-2008 10:47 AM

Find these orandas weird looking.

Still prefer the normal types selling at my market stalls.

That is why got lots of things to learn from the market $2/- oranda. Maybe got to rent pond to groom the oranda so that they can look like the market stall one.:D

Your self-bred orandas looks promising. Any self-bred ranchus to show?

Royal Smile 23-04-2008 01:41 PM

nice orandas you bred.the head is still small.

TVR 23-04-2008 02:56 PM

First of all, I must say that I know nothing about other breed of GF except TVR.
When I look at the 1st 2 fish's pics, my eyes went wow......just like the pics, they brighten up my day!
But when I scroll down to the 3rd and 4th pics, just like the pics, everything become dim and ugly. Might be the hand behind them?
What a waste! Sigh.............:(

Hi Ranchu_Lover,

Pardon my ignorance, how do you classify this as lousy self-bred?

Btw, how long have your Orandas been staying in that small tank? Isn't it stressful for them?

Thanks.

I also don't know why some experts here consider them lousy. Since the experts says lousy, then it must be lousy. All raised in HDB using OHF and feed on koi pellets.

Hi, there is no need to feel inferior, probably you could make it better even if they were not bred from landed property?

That is quite a number of Orandas in that tank. Isn't it overcrowded and I guess you must have a good filtration system behind it.

Happy Oranda keeping. :)

Alamak, he can keep in a bigger tank than put in a 2ft tank to take picture ma. Many big fish in small tank just to pose is easier as old man cannot run after the fish in a big tank.

Well, I guess anyone can share their fishes in this forum and that's one of the function of a forum.

Whether it is self-bred or specially purchased for competition is up to individual. In this realistic world, money is the boss.

just me 2cts. :)

Looking forward to your updates.

I don't know how to see a Oranda and I am trying to learn but the way you put it is very confusing
First you share with us your self breed in 4 months old, well I think they look presentable and some bro here did praise them nice and "Tigerlim" always support you with nice words. Then later you are saying your fish are lousy after 2 bro say they are so-so and weird looking. Where is your stand point? Why don't you cull them in first place if you think they are lousy?
The most confusing part is since you think they are lousy, why you still want to send them to competition? Is there any reason behind?
And I always want to ask you this, your nick is ranchu lover, where is your ranchu? Care to share?

Aiyah bro, The TS wants to tell people that he is the expert lar....you see post#13
"Size no big deal what? This is why they are lousy self-bred!"

and then post #23
"I also don't know why some experts here consider them lousy. Since the experts says lousy, then it must be lousy. All raised in HDB using OHF and feed on koi pellets."

In fact he was the one who said that his fish is lousy as with some earlier threads. Maybe he is too engrossed in wanting to win competition that he himself is not coherent. That's why hobby are meant for fun and enjoyment. Once the hobby controls you, the fun and enjoyment is gone.

Anyway, there are no experts or shifu or master here. We are all hobbyist wanting to enjoy and have fun with like minded hobbyist. Cheers

Royal Smile 23-04-2008 09:34 PM

Many bros shooting him it seems,he has a problem i guess.
he might feel more competitive if he could win prizes and it could well urge him to better himself for the good of his hobby.i think we should encourage such hobbyists as winning prizes is not easy while we could not doubt is in the aim of every participants at the comp besides enjoying the event itself and socialising. There should be healthy competition among fellow bros.

Will there be a self-bred competition in future? Perhaps you can join that and not the coming one
