I have hand spawned my ranchu
I need help from bros here. This morning when I was watching my ranchu saw all of them chasing after one particular ranchu. I search online, this could be they are mating or eating up the eggs after the ranchu. I pick up the piece that was chased after and looked at the belly, it have eggs woosing out. I took a basin, filled up with the pond water and I started light squeeze the fish belly and eggs started flowing out. I immediately catch another ranchu that was chasing just now and I too squeeze the belly and white substance flow out. I mixed them in the basin. I have added air stone into the basin.
I need advise from here, have I done right for hand spawning? And what should I do next? |
Congrats bro.
U juz got yrself a spawn. Next is changed totally the water with fresh clean water n continue aeration. Add some methylene blue to prevent fungus. Next is to see whether the eggs are clear white If yes, means they are fertilised. Under normal.temperatures, they will hatch in 2 days |
:D congratulations bro :D
Looking forward to more update. |

Bro, if opaque means not fertilised.

Thanks for sharing. Is there a timing where the eggs need to be fertilized after it is being in the water?

hi bros, same thing just happened to me. Was changing the water for them and decided might as well put them in a pail for a rub plus belly squeeze after reading this post in the morning.
And indeed there was eggs flowing out from the long suspected female svr. I quickly swop the other 2 ranchus (svr and tvr) one at a time to see if there's milt. I think i saw some liquid flow out from one of them but it was just for about 2 secs. You guys think that might be milt? Anyway have put an air stone for the pail. Fingers crossed. |
Day2.
I saw about 15% of the eggs now have 2 tiny dots. I assume those are eyes, meaning to say only 15% of the eggs has been fertilised? What about those doesn't have eyes? Do I remove them? |
Congrats. Mine all wasn't fertilised :( will try again next time
