White tank vs Black Tank for rearing Flowerhorn
 
Any experts care to share the difference?

Or is it solely based on genes and quality food

If lights not on for 4-8 hrs, Louhan will turn black, shine will be lost.

If black tank : make sure 4-8 hrs moderate lighting that's not too intense.

When both of you enter competition, blue tank, your black tank fish will beat his white tank fish.

They are a bit like "chameleon". Their body colour intensity adapt to back ground intensity. But I doubt the effect can last more than 1-2 hours.

For example, Taiwan kkp sellers like to put their fishes with black back ground with red lights to max out the redness.
