Are my African cichlids mouth brooding?

My female mouth seems to be bloating? Is it practicing or for real?

Looks promising, only that it's mouth must be completely sealed. Abit hard to tell from the picture, but looks slightly open.

Is she still holding now?

Yup slight open but not eating.

Seems to be holding, congrats!

Personally have not tried putting holding females in breeding nets, but I feel that it might stress the female and cause her to swallow. But then again, since you have already done it might not be so good to shift her around again.

Keep us updated! :)

Congrats mate!

Demasoni breeds easily and the male will be aggressive to the brooding female unless 1) you have many females to spread aggression 2) big tank with places for female to hide. The holding female will incubate the eggs about 2~3 week and then release the fries. Fries are not that small and can be fed with crushed pellets/flakes or 'boon'.

Congrats and good luck.

yep. It looks like it is holding. From my experience with Demasoni many years ago, I like to strip the females 2 weeks after I first see that she is holding.
There is no need to put the brooding female in a separate breeding net, unless she is being disturbed a lot by the other tankmates.

Female Demasoni are pretty good mothers. If you let her hold full term, you can observe how they take care of the young.

Enjoy the process!! It will just get more fun from here on.
