my XB has protruding scales, no appetite, minimal movement.

Hi bros, i've a bit of a problem..

My 13" XB in the last couple of days developed some protruding scales and it does eat anymore. 50% water change done on my 5X2X2 but not much difference. pH is about 6.8, and I don't have an ammonia problem. I'm very worried about it as I'm suppose to go for a holiday soon.

It's presently housed with 2 alligator gars (5"), 2 Motoro Rays (4",8") and 5 adult Angelfishes. The XB was fed SW and MP, but now doesn't have much interest anymore. It also seems to be gulping quite a bit.

I'd like to post a photo but apparently I'm unable to unless I have more than 10 posts. I'll PM photos if any kind soul is able to help. Thanks.

Bro, you can refer to my thread, encountered this problem before due to feeding of SW. You need to remove carbon if you have them in your filter. Will PM you my number, can whatsapp me the photos and will help you post it later on when I get home. I'm unable to receive PM for some reasons :(:o

I would say it is due to high bioload and bad water management from insufficient filtration...my aro once got protruding scales also but only 2 to 3 scales open only...was able to treat wif salt, heater and OF Arowana medication....

Bad water condition, keep aro always must take care for good water condition. Once something happen to your aro and immediate wc also can't help, it is a cycle.
Sorry to hear your aro up lorry and may it RIP.

Looks like a localised infection. Pity. A nice looking xb

Bro sorry to hear that it did not make it. I believe it another lesson and you will continue the hobby. This time better at it too!

The filtration does seems not enough with high bio load.

Caused by dropsy... Sometimes due to sudden drop in water temp could also cause this

Rutilans 21-12-2013 03:16 AM
