New Shrimp Tank Setup (Photos)

Finally I've decided to upgrade my shrimp tank to a 2ft glass tank. Originally a see through glass tank, I've pasted a sheet of black backing so that it would help bring out the colors of the aquarium. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9884.jpg The substrate used is GEX Shrimp and Plants soil from Japan. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9887.jpg Spread a layer of shrimp soil onto the tank. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9891.jpg Use lava rocks to create elevated terrains. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9895.jpg Use Mosura sold sea mud powder to enhance water quality and remove harmful substances. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9901.jpg Sprinkle a layer of Mosura mud powder on the surface. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9903.jpg Cover it with another layer of shrimp soil. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9911.jpg Now add the plants and position them as it would appear in the way you would want them to be. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9915.jpg Slowly add water to prevent splashing and displacements of plants. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9916.jpg Once the water has been added, install the Eheim AquaCompact filter. The Eheim Aqua Compact 40 is a small compact external power filter for open aquariums from 20 to 40 litres. It is delivered complete with fine and course filter pads and Eheim Ehfisubstrat Pro bio media. |

Condition the water by adding Mosura Shi Zhen Power. It removes chlorine and breaks down chloramines in tap water, and is formulated specially for crustaceans. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9948.jpg Supplement it with Mosura BT-9 to purify the water and decompose harmful ammonia and nitrate. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9949.jpg Add the water conditioners according to instructions. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9952.jpg Lastly, include the floating plants so that the shrimps can hang onto the roots. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9965.jpg Since this is a heavily planted tank, it is mandatory to provide the plants with CO2. Place the CO2 diffuser near the inlet of the filter for more efficient dissemination of CO2 throughout the tank. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9966.jpg Monitor the parameters of the newly setup tank. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_9967.jpg Allow the newly setup tank to cycle for at least one week before adding livestock. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...38950853_n.jpg Day 3 into the cycling process. A much clearer tank after the dust has settled. |
